About the Windows SmartScreen warning

GroundControl is developed independently. Purchasing a Microsoft code-signing certificate for every release would be disproportionately expensive — so Windows temporarily flags the installer (Setup.exe) as an “unknown app”. That is normal for software from independent developers and does not indicate malware.

The file is clean and safe to install.

How to start the installation

1. 1When the blue SmartScreen window appears, click the underlined “More info” link.
2. 2A “Run anyway” button appears in the bottom-right corner — click it to continue.
3. 3If antivirus software (e.g. Avast, Bitdefender) blocks the file, add it as an exception or briefly pause real-time protection for the install.
